How to Deal With Motor Reset/Position Failed

Download

Motor reset or position failure typically occurs due to using a filter during calibration or GoTo. Follow the steps below to troubleshoot and resolve the issue.

1. Common Cause

  • Using Filters:
    • Do not use filters during calibration or when performing GoTo. Attach filters only before taking astro photos.

2. Steps to Troubleshoot

2.1 Send a Runtime Log

  1. Go to Settings > Support > Log Upload in the DWARFLAB app.
  2. Fill in the following details:
    • Problem Type: Select the issue type.
    • Log: Logs are overwritten after reaching 1MB, so report promptly.
    • Email Address: Provide your contact email.
    • Date of Problem (Optional): Specify the log date.
    • Description (Optional): Add a detailed explanation of the issue.
  3. Submit the log. We’ll contact you within 24 hours.
Note: Logs are automatically deleted 7 days after creation.

2.2 Record a Video of the Motor Reset

  1. Redo Calibration: Send the calibration command to DWARF II.
  2. Minimize the DWARFLAB App: Put the app in the background.
  3. Record the Motion: Use your phone’s camera to record DWARF II’s motor movements during calibration.
  4. Share the Video: If the video is large, compress it and share it via WeTransfer.com.

Tip: This process can be done indoors during daylight. Even if calibration fails repeatedly, the goal is to verify motor functionality.

3. Provide Additional Information

  • Include the SN code (located on the bottom of your device) in your report.
  • This helps us determine if the motor needs repair or replacement.
